The opportunity:
Lead Public and Stakeholder Engagement for the new BHF/MRC Centre of Research Excellence in Advanced Cardiac Therapies (Re-ACT), focussing on digital engagement through development and implementation of the RE-ACT website, social media and other external dissemination activities, and coordination of direct public engagement activities across the Centre, to meet objectives agreed by the Senior Leadership Team and Lead, Training and Dissemination. Act as main point of contact between RE-ACT and members of its diverse external audience groups, representing RE-ACT in these interactions.
Lead co-ordinated Patient Involvement and Engagement activities within RE-ACT, ensuring that patient representation is embedded at all stages of research development through interactions between RE-ACT PIs and local PIE groups and that RE-ACT PIE meets best practice, and representing RE-ACT at ATMP Engage and other national PIE initiatives.
Contribute to the field of Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement, including digital public engagement with science through preparation of reports and peer reviewed publications related to RE-ACT activities.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. This is a fixed term position for 7 years from April 2025 to April 2032.
The salary for this post is £40,247 to £47,874 per annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
University degree in relevant subject or equivalent formal training, plus a minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in a similar or related role.
Thorough operational knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes, systems and procedures relevant to the role, including broad sectoral awareness and detailed knowledge of successful implementation of digital and direct public and patient engagement. Proven awareness of current strategies for online and face-to-face public engagement with science and of and understanding of audience needs.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, including discretion and the ability to establish and maintain trust. Direct experience of working with and developing new relationships with multiple stakeholders, including ability to liaise effectively with senior figures from academia, industry and other stakeholders in the cell and gene therapy fields.
