Introduction to YSJ university
York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.
As one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.
The School
The post holder will sit within the School of Science Technology and Health, which hosts several well-established Nursing and Allied Health pre-registration programmes both at undergraduate (level 6) and accelerated Masters (level 7).
The School is committed to growing our healthcare-related provision and Operating Department Practice is one of a number of new programme areas developed to enhance the portfolio further. This exciting development sees the first MSc pre-registration programme in ODP so this is an excellent opportunity to join us at YSJ and be part of the new development in ODP education.
Our excellent teaching and learning, and welcoming and inclusive ethos supports an exceptional student experience.
The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative ODP or Nurse to join our department with responsibility for delivering teaching, learning, and assessment across the programme and working with stakeholders across the region to support this new programme. Experience of all areas of perioperative practice is essential for this role, including experience of supporting and assessing pre-registration learners in perioperative practice.
The ability to supervise dissertations at MSc level is also expected. The successful candidate will be expected either to be research active in their subject specialism or have an interest in becoming research active as part of their development.
Required skills and experience
You must be registered with HCPC as an ODP or registered with the NMC as a Nurse with up-to-date professional registration. Candidates from a nursing background will need to have specific experience of working in perioperative practice and further evidence of CPD and relevant training evidence in perioperative practice.
You must be qualified to a minimum of level 6 and either hold an MSc or be prepared to undertake one.
