About the Role
The Department of English, within the School of the Arts is looking to expand by appointing a Lecturer in English.
Duties under Teaching and Scholarship
Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. We are looking for someone with expertise in Medieval and Early Modern Literature. The role will likely involve contributing to our survey modules ESH282: Renaissance Drama, ESH5003: Chaucer: Gender, Faith, Identity, and/or ESH5001: Global Shakespeare. Please note that ESH5001 will be delivered in July/August (as a summer school) and in-semester over the 2025-26 academic year.
This is a fixed-term role available as a Leverhulme-funded replacement post until 30 June 2026.
About You
You will hold a PhD in English or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential.

The post is full-time and fixed-term (12 months) with an expected start date of 1 July 2025. The salary will be Grade 5, £50,685 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
