The Opportunity:
We are looking for an outstanding early-career researcher to join our group at the Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions (CSEC), belonging to the Institute for Condensed Matter and Complex Systems (ICMCS) of the University of Edinburgh.
The appointed Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) will utilise the laser-heated diamond anvil cell approach to synthesise novel and technologically relevant nitrogen-based materials. The PDRA will employ the newly-developed single-crystal X-ray diffraction of powder-like samples for the structural characterisation of nitrides, along with Raman spectroscopy measurements. This programme of research will be conducted in collaboration with researchers from the University of Bayreuth (Germany), the Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique (France) as well as the University of Linköping (Sweden) and has been funded by the UKRI through a Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF).
The salary for this post is UE07 £40,247 to £47,874 per annum.
The position is fixed term for 2 years and full time (35 hours per week).
