The School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the post of Professor or Senior Clinician to lead our Orthopaedic Department. We encourage candidates who have an interest in General Surgery, with a strong orthopaedic bias.
The successful candidate will be based in our award-winning Small Animal Hospital on the beautiful Garscube estate. This busy multidisciplinary hospital is staffed by a team of specialists in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology. State of the art facilities available on-site include 1.5T MRI, CT, linear accelerator, digital radiography, and four fully equipped surgical theatres. Our ‘One Hospital’ team ethos ensures exceptional clinical care can be delivered to our patients, and supports the continual professional development of our vets, nurses and support staff.
You will be responsible for leading and developing a specialised surgical service, with an orthopaedic bias, driving the strategic expansion of the Small Animal Hospital and delivering a high-quality surgical service to small animal referral patients. The role will also involve the delivery of clinical teaching to undergraduates, interns and residents. The post offers a significant element of ‘off clinics’ time with the expectation to lead high quality clinical research and research-led education in partnership with other divisions and institutes within the College.
Candidates should have an RCVS registrable degree in veterinary medicine and must hold a postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Surgery (ECVS, ACVS or RCVS).
Package & Benefits include:
If you’ve not been to Glasgow before, you’re in for a treat with vibrant night life, and the countryside of Western Scotland on your doorstep (Loch Lomond is just 30 minutes away!).
This post is open-ended and full-time (35 hours per week), however applicants wishing to work part-time will also be considered.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Catherine.Stalin@glasgow.ac.uk or Ray.Girotti@glasgow.ac.uk
