Applications are invited for the post of Building Services and Workshop Manager in the Department of Earth Sciences.

This is an exciting and varied role, where the post holder will lead the Department's buildings and technical support teams and be responsible for the management of our facilities and buildings in Central Cambridge, alongside the team of technical staff who work for the department on the Downing Site.

The position reports to the Business and Operations Manager to support both the teaching and research activities of the department. This involves working closely with a wide range of Departmental staff and engaging with the University Estates Division, the Safety Office and University Security team. The role holder manages our small workshop and leads the maintenance and installation of mechanical/ electrical services within our buildings on the Downing Site. The position also contributes to supporting the department's activities at the Bullard Labs in North West Cambridge.

The successful candidate will have proven organisational skills, a high attention to detail and be able to effectively prioritise their workload. Previous experience of building maintenance is required, as well as practical experience of specialised workshop activity and equipment, experience of specialised electrical systems and of staff management. A working knowledge of relevant regulations and practice including health and safety is also essential. Out of hours work may occasionally be necessary.
