About the Role
This role will include supporting post-doctoral research assistants, research fellows and PhD students in the laboratory with their experimental work. Work will also involve other technical responsibilities and the ability to liaise with Barts Health NHS Trust clinicians and clinical trials teams on occasions for collection samples from hospitals, interacting with partners and handling and processing samples. Provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.
About You
The candidate would hold a primary degree qualification in the required subject. Skills necessary for overseeing laboratory organization are key. This is in conjunction with good time management and task prioritization. Good communication skills (written and spoken) and adequately convey results and technical issues are also needed. A can do attitude and disposition towards experimental work with willingness to work flexible hours as projects demand with an enthusiasm for laboratory research is expected.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
