The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge seeks a motivated professional to join the Cambridge Royce Institute team as an Industry Facility Scientist. This exciting role involves developing research sprint projects with companies and research institutions to address critical challenges in materials science, particularly in thin film deposition and its applications. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Engage with industry and research partners to initiate and manage collaborative projects that align with Royce's capabilities.
  • Lead research on thin film deposition, device fabrication, and characterization.
  • Provide consultancy services to external partners, developing innovative solutions.
  • Administer research grants and industrial collaborations, ensuring compliance and smooth project delivery.
  • Network within the Royce community to foster partnerships with industry and academia.

Your Profile:

  • Expertise in thin film growth, nanodevice fabrication, and cryogenic electrical/magnetic characterisation.
  • Proven experience in planning and managing complex technical projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with research grant applications and financial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
