Background
The post holder will support Student Sport and external activities, ensuring safe set-up and dismantling of equipment while maintaining high customer service standards. They will assist with CitySport programmes, including Get Active, No Strings Badminton, sports tournaments, and social sessions.
Responsibilities
Equipment Set-Up & Health & Safety
- Prepare and safely set up/dismantle sports equipment (up to 80kg in a two-person lift).
- Ensure timely and effective changeovers for events and users.
- Monitor safety, enforce etiquette, and address first aid incidents.
- Report hazards to the Leisure Supervisor or Duty Manager.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Perform daily/weekly equipment checks, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in sports halls, studios, and changing areas.
- Transport sports equipment as needed to the main campus.
Customer Service
- Provide professional, friendly service to students, staff, and guests.
- Assist users, conduct facility tours, and encourage maximum engagement.
- Gather and relay customer feedback to enhance services.
- Support reception and gym teams in updating students and members.
Programme Development
- Assist in organising and delivering student sports, BUCS teams, and social sessions.
- Support the Leisure Supervisor in planning tournaments, drop-in sessions, and university events.
- Contribute to wellbeing and community initiatives, including Freshers’ Week and main campus campaigns.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety in sports facilities.
- First aid qualification and experience completing accident reports.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures and emergency action plans.
