Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate must:

  • Possess at minimum, a Master’s degree, from a recognized university, in Education with postgraduate qualifications in Early Childhood Care and Education or a closely-related field

AND

  • Be currently pursuing a PhD and must have completed two (2) seminars or equivalent towards completion of a PhD 

Candidates should also possess:

  • Ideally three (3) years’ teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • Good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficiency in the design and use of online teaching methods (e.g. Zoom) 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • PhD in Education or a closely related field with postgraduate qualifications in Early Childhood Care Education
  • Ideally at least three (3) years’ experience in supervision of practicum in Early Childhood Care and Education
  • Ideally at least three (3) years’ graduate teaching experience
  • Research-oriented 

The following would be considered assets:

  • BEd in Early Childhood Care and Education
  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Support for teaching multivariate quantitative research methods and/or qualitative research methods 

Only holders of a relevant PhD will be eligible for appointment at the Lecturer level. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teaching on the ECCD, B.Ed., and M.Ed. programmes
  • Designing and developing courses in the Early Childhood care and Education programme
  • Creating a research agenda for the Early Childhood care and Education programme
  • Engaging in classroom supervision, supervise graduate research and conduct research in Early Childhood Care and Education
  • Serving on committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
  • Engaging in community outreach initiatives
  • Collaborating with colleagues in teaching and research projects 

Personal Attributes
