About us
A data coordinator position is available within a newly established Data Science Team at the CRUK Scotland Institute. The Institute is a world leading cancer research institute situated in the vibrant city of Glasgow. It hosts approximately 60 researcher scientists at any one time. The Institute has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Project outline
The Data Science Team at the CRUK Scotland Institute is a newly established team focused on the management and sharing of multimodal data arising from pre-clinical and clinical datasets. The team is building data platforms to support the capture of consistent high-quality metadata, and the sharing of raw and processed molecular and imaging data according to FAIR principals. The team is part of a multidisciplinary, international endeavour that connects world-class cancer research teams, enabling them to build critical infrastructure and deliver a transformative programme of pre-clinical and clinical research, and to share new knowledge quickly with global partners.
CRC-STARS is an innovative, ambitious, consortium-led programme which will use large scale patient and model derived datasets to address the problem of cancer cell plasticity in response to treatment. This project aims to use genomic, transcriptomic and spatial data to map tumour responses in pre- and post-treatment patient biopsies. These will be aligned with advanced in vivo models, to further our understanding of therapeutic responses, and ultimately to improved treatment available to patients in the future.
A position is available for a data coordinator to join our data science team to focus on the capture and sharing of multimodal data arising from CRC-STARS. The successful applicant will have a track record working with controlled vocabularies, data dictionaries and models such as OHDSI OMOP.
The post will focus on coordinating the collation, data modelling, and dissemination of multiomics data arising from CRC-STARS. This will involve joining a data modelling and bioinformatics team developing tools and processes to support comparative-multiomics analysis, the upload of data into public genome repositories and data portals, alongside the design and implementation of workflows that encapsulate multiomics data and their associated clinical annotation in R/BioConductor objects. These will be used to support data exchange between computational biologists and bioinformaticians around the world.
