This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Criminology team at Birmingham Newman University. Based within the School of Business and Law, which is also home to a range of programmes including Law and Policing, you will play a key role in the delivery of the undergraduate and postgraduate criminology courses, as well as contributing to research and public engagement activities.

You will have a clear understanding of student learning and the relevant pedagogic approaches to enable you to teach across the BA Criminology curriculum and as well as demonstrating specialism in a selected area. In particular we would be interested in specialisms such as Forensic Criminology, Green Criminology, Cybercrime related crime or other related specialism.

You will design, plan and deliver innovative and engaging teaching and learning activity and effective learning environments, select appropriate methods of assessment and feed back to learners, supervise student projects and support and guide students in your role as Academic Personal Tutor. In addition, you will contribute to developing employability opportunities for criminology students.

In addition, you will enhance the scholarly reputation of Criminology discipline by contributing to developing knowledge, expertise and research aimed to enhance the student experience and support Departmental, Faculty and institutional initiatives. You will also support outreach, marketing and recruitment activity with the Criminology area.

You will have a first degree in Criminology, an ideally hold a relevant teaching qualification or be a Fellow of the HEA. For those seeking appointment at Senior Lecturer level you will hold a Masters degree in Criminology or allied subject coupled with a demonstrable research profile commensurate with your stage of career.

You may, on occasion, be required to work during the evening / weekends.

Successful candidates will be expected to take up their post as soon as possible.
