About Us: MODUS Research and Innovation Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to assisting universities, companies, and research institutes in securing European and National Research Funding, with a particular focus on European Framework Programme Funding.
The Role: We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for science and technology to join our team. In this role, you will work with clients across Europe to:
- Develop high-quality proposals, particularly in response to calls for proposals under the EU Horizon Europe research programme.
- Provide management, dissemination, and exploitation support for funded research projects to optimise their outcomes and impact.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of science and technology, collaborating with leading universities, research organisations, SMEs, and large industrial partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with clients to research, write, and organise ideas for collaborative research proposals across diverse scientific and technological fields.
- Align proposals with funding body guidelines, ensuring clarity, persuasion, and professionalism.
- Project Management:
- Proactively manage risks and resolve challenges within collaborative research projects.
- Plan and execute dissemination strategies to maximise project visibility and ensure the optimal use of outputs.
- Coordinate with service providers, such as graphic designers and videographers for supporting activities.
- Business Involvement:
- Contribute to internal business processes, including finance, marketing, HR, and IT.
- Collaboration & Travel:
- Work from our office in Dundee Technology Park a minimum of two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
- International travel as needed to meet with clients and consortia.
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience:
- A Masters or PhD in a scientific or technical subject.
- A strong background in science and technology, with the ability to rapidly comprehend new concepts.
- Previous experience in an academic or industrial research and development environment.
- Experience in proposal writing and project management would be an advantage.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with scientific curiosity and ability to quickly understand and articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- An aptitude for crafting effective dissemination strategies and promoting project outputs.
- Confidence to engage professionally and credibly with diverse stakeholders across academic, industrial, and research settings.
- Excellent IT skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
- The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
- High levels of flexibility, adaptability, accountability, enthusiasm and self-motivation.

Salary: A starting salary in the range of £35,000 to £45,000 plus bonuses depending on experience, is available for this position.
