The Graduate Admissions and Recruitment (GAR) Office is based at the University Offices, Wellington Square, and is part of the University’s Academic Administration Division (AAD). Oxford has over 14,000 graduate students, representing more than 50% of the full-time student population. Almost two thirds of our graduate students are from outside the UK, and are drawn from some 140 countries worldwide, demonstrating the highly international character and global reach of Oxford. Developing, coordinating and evaluating a range of graduate access and Widening Participation initiatives form key components of GAR’s work.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for x2 Graduate Access Evaluation Consultants to join us. The posts are Grade 6 and on a variable hours and fixed term basis until September 2025. Post-holders are likely to work remotely for some of the time in line with University and office guidance.
 
 
About the Role
This opportunity would be particularly suited to PhD/DPhil students in Education or related fields who have some knowledge or experience of researching/designing evaluation and have knowledge of the issues related to access to higher education.
 
The consultants will work with the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment Office to develop a high-quality evaluation programme for the graduate access activities currently run by the University, in particular the initiatives to contextualise admissions.
 
We are looking for two individuals who have sufficient knowledge in this area of work, and are able to manage their own research and have experience of following or adapting methodologies. Excellent communication skills, including writing reports and delivering presentations, will be essential.
 
About You
Skills and experience required:
•    Holding a first degree
•    Possessing sufficient specialist knowledge in the project area (such as researching/designing evaluation and knowledge of the issues related to access to higher education)
•    Ability to manage own research and administrative activities
•    Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports and present at meetings
•    Experience of following and adapting methodologies
•    Ideally familiarity with graduate study at the University of Oxford
