Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of Clinical Trials

Applications are sought for Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of Clinical Trials within the College of Health and Agricultural Sciences.

This Ad Astra fellowship will effect key deliverables in the context of several domains of strategic relevance to UCD’s ambitions: 

International Policy and Practice 

Consistent with UCD’s WHO Collaborating Centre commitments:

  • Develop evidence-based guidance on operationalising One Health, including protocols for cross-sectoral clinical trials.
  • Contribute trial methodologies and case studies to a knowledge repository, facilitating global knowledge-sharing and capacity building.

The fellowship will focus on:

  • Innovative trial design for One Health
  • Operationalising cross-sectoral clinical trials
  • Build research partnerships within the university, nationally and internationally
  • Capacity building, advocacy and education

Expected Deliverables (aligned with WHO collaborating centre terms of reference)

  • Training Modules and micro credential development
  • Develop workshops and online courses on One Health clinical trial design for, researchers, and policymakers in Ireland and internationally.
  • Guidance and Protocols:
    • Conduct a systematic review of best practices and methodologies in One Health trials.
    • Create evidence-based guidelines for designing and implementing cross-sectoral clinical trials.
  • Knowledge Repository Contributions:
    • Populate the WHO CC repository with trial protocols, case studies, and tools of relevance to be shared and disseminated widely.

Strategic Goals for UCD 

This fellowship will position UCD as a global leader in interdisciplinary clinical trial design and implementation through its WHO Collaborating Centre. This may enhance our capacity to attract national funding as well as those from Horizon Europe, the Wellcome Trust, and other international funding bodies. The fellowship will seed the development of critical mass in the One Health dimension of our growing Clinical Trials Expertise supporting cross school programmes of research

95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €62,855 - €99,533 Per Annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
