Our recently appointed Chancellor, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, is one of the UK’s most influential women in Tech and a major advocate of diversifying talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Director of IT will be responsible for delivering a new technology strategy that meets the aspirations and objectives contained within the new University strategy to 2030 and providing for the 24/7 needs of a community of c23,000 individuals. Providing inspirational leadership to teams of highly qualified professionals will be key to your success in this role as will be your ability to positively manage relationships with complex stakeholder groups and customers. The ability to successfully deliver transformational change and significant projects is essential, and you will be a key advisor to and member of the University’s senior management team.
Candidates will be educated to degree level and probably with a relevant IT professional qualification. You must have extensive experience of managing equivalent technology services in large and complex organisations with an emphasis on the delivery of high-quality customer focused technical services. Not necessarily from a university background, you will however need to demonstrate good understanding and empathy with the challenges faced by the higher education sector, and the needs of a complex range of stakeholders in the academic context. In addition to your technical skills, you will also need to be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, financial management capabilities and change management expertise.
