The Digital team are recruiting a Data Modelling Lead to work within our Enterprise Data Programme, an enabler of Strategy 2030: “to use the power of our education and research, through our people, place and partnerships to lead progress towards a sustainable, healthy and socially just future.” The programme will implement a new Enterprise Data Service providing a centralised data capability including:
- Clear data governance, ownership and stewardship
- Expert support to data consumers through increased data analysis and literacy skills
- Rapid access to disparate data
- New data insights tools and techniques
Successful implementation of the service will support the shift in organisation culture to be data-led informing the continuous improvement of products and services.
As our data modelling lead you will be the driving force behind our data-informed transformation! Collaborate with senior leadership to design enterprise data models that enable smart decision-making and unlock the potential of data across the university. You’ll bring your expertise to shape policies, frameworks, and processes, ensuring data models are curated, trusted, and easily accessible.

- Designing and implementing data models aligned with the University’s 2030 strategy.
- Establishing policies and tools to ensure data integrity, quality, and lifecycle management.
- Partnering with academic, research, and professional teams to align on best practices.
- Supporting data literacy and training across the university.

We’re really looking for…
- Expert knowledge of data management across its lifecycle, including architecture, methods, and tools, with a focus on data privacy and protection (e.g., GDPR).
- Proven experience designing and implementing data models, defining data standards, and embedding consistency across an organisation.
- Proficiency in data modelling tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio or equivalent) and concepts like data classification, quality, and lifecycle management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic decisions.
- A proactive and adaptable problem-solver who fosters collaboration, builds enthusiasm, and thrives in a changing environment
- Experience in public or third sector governance or similar complex operational settings, including leading cross-functional teams.
