We are seeking an academic leader, Director of Undergraduate Medicine, to join an exciting new beginning, a School of Medicine (SoM) that is transforming medical education, developing academically and purpose driven doctors who lead by example, and change our world for the better. The School of Medicine will become an internationally recognised centre with established expertise and resources. At both undergraduate and postgraduate level, we are committed to offering vocationally relevant programmes of study with the highest academic standards.

The Director is responsible for our new MBBS Programme and will drive forward further development of medical education within the SoM. This is a key strategic leadership role and the post provides an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the University and field of medical education at a critical time in its development. The post holder will be responsible for the overall development, delivery and quality assurance of the MBBS programme.

Leading a cohesive values-led programme team, and liaison with professional bodies such as the GMC and local education providers will be a key aspect of the role.

The post holder will be a practising and experienced clinician, with extensive experience of UK medical education and the associated governance and quality assurance of an undergraduate medical programme. They will be expected to promote, develop and support pedagogic research and ensure research informed teaching and curriculum design. We would expect the postholder to be medically qualified, clinically active and registered with the GMC with a full licence to practise. An appointment would be made at between 0.6fte and 0.8fte to facilitate the continuation of clinical practice.
