About the role:
We are currently seeking a Motor Vehicle Lecturer to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College group.
As a Motor Vehicle Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying light vehicle maintenance & repair technology and practice on a range of courses and levels.
- Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their potential.
- Managing students’ learning and providing a high-quality learning experience.
- Teaching effectively on a range of motor vehicle programmes, levels and qualification types recognising and meeting students’ individual needs.
- Preparing schemes of work which are up to date and fully meet the requirements of awarding bodies.
- Researching, developing and effectively implementing new learning materials in a variety of media to engage students in learning.
- Assessing students’ work effectively to meet awarding body standards and carrying out verification and moderation.
- Monitoring and recording students’ progress and taking action to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
- Contributing to tutorials (both individual and group) to support individual students to realise their potential, working with the designated Personal Tutor.
- Preparing a variety of reports and maintaining records on students’ progress and performance.
- Leading curriculum development and organising the contribution of other members of teaching staff as appropriate.
- Acting as a subject specialist mentor to new teaching staff as part of the induction process.
- Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with college procedures.
- Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with college policy and procedures.
- Participating proactively in training and development including qualification development required in the job role.
About you:
- Hold a Level 3 relevant qualification
- Be willing to achieve Certificate in Education or equivalent or already hold it
- Be willing to achieve Assessor/Verifier qualifications or already hold them
- Have recent experience of teaching and assessing on a range programmes and levels
- Have knowledge of the current developments in own specialist area
- Possess the ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and work effectively to deadlines
- Possess the ability to work in line with our Values of

- Have awareness of health and safety requirements relevant to the job
