Facilities services are a relatively new directorate in themselves within the wider Infrastructure & Environments section, with the purpose of grouping Security & Campus Safety, Soft FM, Grounds Maintenance, Travel & Transport and other support services was to combine services that operate across a 24/7 and on a shift work basis of which play an integral part to the student and staff experience. The initial focus has been on ensuring services are delivering a fit for purpose standard alongside engagement and understanding of the needs of key stakeholder groups.
About the role
The post of Head of Security & Campus Safety will have oversight of the Security & Campus Safety and Travel & Transport departments within Facilities Services, ensuring a robust operating model that provides a focus on ensuring resources are allocated based on identified organisational operational need, financial governance and risk management controls.
The role will form part of the Leadership team under Facilities Services to ensure that the strategic direction aligns with the University strategic plan and Infrastructure & Environment sub-strategy and Facilities Action plans. A key focus of the role will be ensuring the compliance with statutory requirements, meeting best practice standards and the embedding of effective Security, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Resilience and Health & Safety across Facilities services.
About you
You will need to hold a recognised Security, Facilities Management (IWFM) or Management qualification or demonstrable experience gained at senior management level covering Security or Facilities Management services.
You will possess experience at a senior and strategic level in directing and managing a Security or Total FM services as well as experience in successful delivery of multi-disciplinary services in a complex environment. Experience in managing change, developing positive engaging work culture and a key understanding of statutory requirements in the services within remit is necessary. The ability to multitask in an operationally demanding environment; be a confident decision maker and possess good common sense and problem-solving skills is essential.
