The Deputy Head of Equality Diversity and Inclusion reports to the Head of Equality & Diversity and Inclusion (line management). The role will support the Head of EDI in developing statutory equality and diversity plans and reports. It will lead the development of Equality Impact Assessment capacity across the institution, the development and review of equalities related policies and will ensure the provision of up-to-date equalities’ legislation and national policies’ training. The role will also lead on the development and implementation of the staff disability inclusion plan.
The Deputy Head of EDI will deputise for the Head of EDI in managing the EDI Team and its functions. The team centrally leads, advises, guides and supports all functions of the University on equality, diversity and inclusion and human rights matters.
Educated to degree level and with demonstrable experience of supporting large complex organisations to develop inclusive cultures, the post holder will have expert knowledge of equalities legislation and the related statutory requirements that the University fulfils. The post holder will also have a deep understanding of the principles that underpin equality, diversity and inclusion work and will use this knowledge as a resource to provide strategic and operational level support to the University’s schools and units in their pursuit of the University’s inclusion goals.
