About the Role

The University of Oxford is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Reporting Analyst to join our dynamic team in Education Services within the Academic Administrative Division (AAD).  

 The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analysing complex data sets, providing insights, and supporting decision-making processes across various departments across the Collegiate University.

This post is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months and may be considered a secondment opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the design, build and configuration of effective and efficient business intelligence solutions to meet operational, statutory and analytical requirements by leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills, with a key focus on the HESA student data statutory workflow build.
  • Lead collaboration for the University with key stakeholder from across the collegiate University, including senior staff and academics, to capture business requirements, effectively translating them into technical requirements, producing prototypes, and incorporating feedback as part of an iterative design approach.
  • Maintain and further develop Student Data Modelling and Analytics reporting datasets, liaising with colleagues in IT and professional services to ensure accuracy, resilience and efficiencies are considered as changes occur. 
  • Maintain a library of technical specifications and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and robust quality control mechanisms are in place such as version control and change and release management across the SDMA data sets.
  • In collaboration with other members of the SDMA team manage a strategic roadmap for the SDMA service, fostering a continuous improvement culture across the SDMA team.

About You

You are a highly skilled Data Analyst with a proven track record in designing and developing data analysis and business intelligence solutions from large-scale datasets. Your expertise in advanced data manipulation tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, SSRS, and Tableau, along with your fluency in SQL and understanding of relational database design.

Your excellent organisational and project management skills enable you to deliver quality work on time, even when juggling competing priorities. You have experience in both line management and matrix management, and you excel at communicating and building relationships with senior colleagues, including those with little technical expertise. Your ability to negotiate satisfactory outcomes where differing stakeholder priorities are in conflict is one of your key strengths.

You are committed to continuous professional development and have a strong awareness of the broader legal, technological, and policy context of student data analysis. Your drive to improve both your own skillset and the quality of the service you provide is evident in your track record of service improvement. You are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of data analysis and IT-enabled business change at one of the world’s leading universities.
