About the Department:

UOWD’s School of Business offers a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at the UG level and a Master of Marketing at the PG level.

The Marketing degrees offered across UG and PG are designed to develop a variety of relevant skills such as marketing analytics, insight mining, brand management, content marketing, social media management, digital advertising, search engine optimization, customer research, project management and others. The degrees also provide the opportunity develop skills in contemporary areas of marketing including digital marketing, digital advertising, and content creation.

Our programs are fully accredited by the Ministry of Education in U.A.E. and Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) in Australia. Our programs have been designed to adhere to corporate world requirements along with the highest industry standards and forward-thinking practices. 

Position Profile

The University of Wollongong in Dubai invites applications for the position of Associate Professor in Marketing with the primary purpose of driving innovation and excellence in both teaching and research. This role includes vital contributions to governance and service activities, directly supporting and advancing the school's mission.

As an Associate Professor, you will have a significant opportunity to impact the areas of research, teaching, and community and industry engagement, all within a collaborative and supportive academic environment. You will collaborate closely with the Dean of the School of Business as well as the Disciplinary Lead for the Marketing program to cultivate a supportive and vibrant learning community, ensuring that our students receive exceptional educational experiences and support. This position provides a platform to influence the future of marketing, digital marketing and practice.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Prepare, deliver, and assess lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, and workshops.
  • Develop and produce teaching materials, including technology-enhanced learning resources.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to teaching, such as student consultations, marking, assessment, and quality assurance.
  • Conduct and publish research; seek research funding.
  • Supervise postgraduate students and oversee industry-based projects.
  • Engage with industry and academic colleagues for collaborative research.
  • Assist with student services, including recruitment, registration, onboarding, and support.
  • Comply with all relevant UOWD policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain balanced performance across academic responsibilities

Selection criteria – Qualifications, Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Possession of a Doctoral qualification in Marketing from an AACSB accredited institution
  • Teaching experience ideally of at least five years in Marketing with a focus on Digital Marketing and/or cutting-edge developments at an AACSB accredited institution
  • A responsible researcher with outcomes including high-impact publications*, generation of research income and industry-research collaborations in the Marketing discipline
  • Experience in supervising Masters Research/Doctoral candidates
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the field such as a record of scholarly learning and teaching including innovative curriculum design, teaching pedagogies, and/or positive engagement with community, industry, government
  • Demonstrated skills relevant to research in the field including though not limited to: literature review, qualitative and quantitative research, publications
  • Demonstrated participation/capacity to participate in Governance and Service activity both within the University and external bodies (eg professional associations)
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written)
