THE PROJECT
The University of Essex, in partnership with Chorus Intelligence Limited (Chorus), offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop AI / NLP functionality within the Chorus Intelligence System. This post is fixed-term for 24 months and is based at Chorus’ offices in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
DUTIES OF THE POST
The duties of the post will include:
- Working with and find suitable approaches to processing large volumes of unstructured data.
- Seamlessly integrating NLP/AI functionality within an existing system.
- Handling very confidential processes and data, and implementing cyber security measures such as security by design.
- Working with developers and stakeholders on beta testing.
- Contributing to the writing of academic papers.
- Acting as project lead, to progress the project and ensure milestones are met.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.
- MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, or related area with industrial experience in NLP.
Skills:
- Strong programming skills.
- Knowledge and expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Experience in Python and relevant NLP libraries.
- Experience with modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
- Experience in using Unsupervised Machine Learning Techniques for large scale textual data.
- Strong mathematical foundation and expertise in Machine Learning principles.
- Experience in using Large Language Models in real-world use cases.
- Knowledge about Structured and Unstructured data.
- Knowledge of databases.
- An understanding of cyber security and GDPR.
- Knowledge about software security (security by design).
- Knowledge about the implementation of basic privacy and authentication techniques in Python.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Project and budget management skills.
- Ability to write technical documentation/academic papers.
Attributes:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Being able to work in a fast-moving environment, listening to feedback and working collaboratively.
Experience:
- Experience of directly dealing with clients and good relationship building skills.
Other
- Can meet the requirements of a full security check and gain UK Security Clearance and NPPV Level 3.
