4 x Board Trustees/Directors with Higher Education sector leadership/management experience
Who we are
We are the independent body set up to review unresolved student complaints about higher education providers in England and Wales. We are passionate about fairness, and we believe that complaints provide important learning to improve the experience for all students.
What we do
We review unresolved complaints from students about their provider and make recommendations for providers to put things right if they have gone wrong. We share learning from complaints to help improve policies and practices across the sector, and we contribute to the development of policy, both in the regulatory framework for higher/tertiary education and in the ombuds sector.
Our Board
Our Board is responsible for the effective governance of our organisation. It sets our overall strategic direction and leads on our vision and values, overseeing the planning, development, and performance of the OIA Scheme and protecting our independence as an ombuds organisation. The Board is not involved in the review of students’ complaints.
What we are looking for
We are specifically seeking four Trustees/Directors: two with expertise in the English higher education sector and two with expertise in the Welsh higher/tertiary education sector. The successful candidates will also have the skills, experience, and personal qualities to contribute effectively to our Board and share our vision that students are always treated fairly.
Next steps
We value diverse backgrounds, life experiences and perspectives, and have a supportive and inclusive organisational culture. We welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds and are keen to increase the diversity of our Board. If you are keen to contribute to the OIA’s governance and you have the relevant skills and experience we would be keen to hear from you.
