The role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic with a design/arts background to play a leading role on the BA (Hons) Interaction Design Arts course at London College of Communication (LCC).
Based within the Design School at LCC, the Interaction Design Arts course continues to forge links between traditional art and design practices and contemporary developments, exploring how these practices intersect with the broader issues of arts, sciences and social change.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will join a dedicated and committed teaching team, where you will assume responsibility for teaching, on-going scholarship, pedagogic and curriculum development on the course. You will also act as a Year Lead for undergraduate students’ pastoral support, progression and attendance, helping to improve student engagement, progression and their overall experience.
This role offers the chance to assume a pivotal position on an innovative, studio-based course, challenging the canon of Interaction Design Arts and emphasising the symbiosis between experimentation, innovation, theory and practice within a unique teaching environment.
About you
We are looking for either an experienced lecturer in the field of Design/Arts education or an academic practitioner with a creative background, who is looking to take their first steps into teaching.
You will need a higher degree (e.g. MA) in a design related subject, as well as practical industry or arts experience in 3D making and physical computing.
In addition to your strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, you will be able to deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials to an international and diverse student cohort, as well as work closely with the course team and colleagues from across the University.
You will also demonstrate an interest in on-going scholarship within the field of Interaction Design and Visual Communication and will be capable of implementing and reflecting these developments in the curriculum.
