About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in Music to join our team at AMATA.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to both practical and theoretical modules, however principally you will lead an innovative, theory-based undergraduate module titled ‘Music and Sound: Resonant Futures’, which explores the evolving relationship between music, sound, technology, and culture in a rapidly changing world. You will encourage students to think critically and creatively about the future of music and sound in the context of the digital age, offering opportunities for imaginative and futurist exploration.

You will guide students in exploring the intersection of music, sound, media studies, and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on conceptualising new modes of engagement with music and sound. About You

You are an experienced academic with a strong research profile and a passion for teaching. You have a proven track record in the music, sound, and media studies disciplines, with expertise in blending critical theory and practice. Your creative, innovative approach to teaching will empower students to critically engage with contemporary audio-visual media while encouraging future-facing perspectives on music and sound.

You will hold a postgraduate degree in a relevant field and have experience teaching at undergraduate level. You will also be committed to research and scholarship in the fields of music and sound education, and have the ability to inspire students to push creative boundaries and ways of thinking.

We are looking for some who has the following skills/experience:

  • Enthusiastic, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Able to demonstrate a clear commitment to scholarship, innovation, and research in music and sound education.
  • Ideally experienced in the dynamic demands of higher education and able to contribute to developing new ways of teaching and learning.
  • A team player, ready to collaborate and engage with colleagues within AMATA and beyond.
