Residence Life Supervisor

Boston University Study Abroad London

Immediate Start and May 2025 Start Available

Part-time Live-in Fixed-term: Academic Year 2024/2025 ending August 2025 (available to extend, 2-year max)

We currently have opportunities to add to our live-in Residence Life Supervisor team with a vacancy for immediate start and May 2025 start. The RLS team helps to support our undergraduate students in university housing for the academic semester. We usually have over 300 students each semester, and the RLS team support students at nights and weekends to help staff ensure the safe and professional running of the programme.

The Residence Life Supervisor is part of a team of 9-11 RLSs and it is essential that this team works together as a close-knit unit, both for backup and support to students. The RLS team are the first point of contact for students and act as the backbone of the on-call emergency team. They work closely with: students, the maintenance and housekeeping teams, security and the Student Affairs staff.

As the first point of contact, every RLS should be able to respond well in difficult and emergency situations and have the patience to deal with more minor, but sometimes challenging, demands.

The RLS will be part of the on-call team which provides out of hours support on a 7-day basis when students are in residence and will be expected to be available during evenings and weekends on a rota basis. The RLS role is part time, so allows flexible working where you may have additional employment or are studying elsewhere on weekdays during the daytime.

You will need recent experience of a similar role, and to be good at communicating with students and creating a welcoming atmosphere whilst being able to maintain discipline. You should demonstrate a mature approach and the ability to make sound judgements, and you will be required to understand and abide by our current rules and codes of conduct.

The RLS team live in single occupancy, en-suite rooms in our residences in South Kensington with access to shared student kitchens, and all associated bills are covered by the university.  You will receive a competitive salary for your variable hours, and full training will be provided. You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK, without a limitation on working hours.

To apply, please send your CV along with a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to recruitment@bu-london.co.uk via 'Apply' button.

We have vacancies for immediate start and May 2025 start. We will respond to applications within two working days. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and scheduled mutually with candidates who progress to that stage. We aim to appoint and conclude the process as soon as possible, with the latest completion date being the end of February. Should an appointment be made before then, we will notify all applicants.

Please indicate your preferred start date in your application.

Please let us know within your application if you are unable to attend in person, and we will try to accommodate alternative arrangements.
