About the Role:

Are you a friendly, proactive individual with a passion for helping others? We are seeking a Senior Access to Services Officer to be the first point of contact for tutors and staff.

A supervisory role to ensure the smooth running of the front of house provision across both sites taking responsibilities for ensuring that all necessary work is undertaken and that members of the team deliver tasks that are required to be undertaken.  

The first point of contact for tutors and wider staff the role will provide support, resources and equipment that is needed whilst trouble-shooting any problems or issues which arise, where necessary liaising with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that these are followed up. A key member of the team, the role will provide advice and guidance, raise awareness of activities across sites, ensure learning and services are provided in clean, safe, secure and welcoming surroundings whilst providing a helpful service and relevant information to staff, students and members.  A health and safety contact you will be the first port of call for security, safety and maintenance issues whilst also carrying out critical administrative tasks that relate to some of the financial transactions needed within our services.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Reception and Student Advice / Support  - To be the friendly face of the Centre and the first point of contact for students/members/clients and visitors whether working on the front desk at either building or responding to enquiries by telephone or email.  
  • Health/Safety and Security - To be responsible for opening (when needed) locking and securing the building at the end of an evening shift, ensuring the safe exit of all persons, the shutdown of all equipment where needed and setting the appropriate security and burglar alarms.  
  • Support for Staff - To provide first line support to tutors in the use of any resources, equipment or concerns in all of the classrooms including specialist spaces, meeting and consultation rooms.  
  • To provide first line support to tutors in the use of AV/IT equipment (inc. Smartboards, digital cameras etc) in classrooms and in liaison with the Facilities and Resources Officer and IT Technician if required
  • Student and member engagement - Ensure all relevant activities are promoted within either and or both sites using the right branding guidelines e.g. leaflets / posters and on TV screens 
  • Finance and reporting -
    • Establish, maintain and support students with the completion of instalment agreements 
    • Cash Counting and Banking (BFS) 
    • Processing Oyster Cards
