Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a difference to the future of young people in Essex? The University are looking for an Outreach Assistant to support the Make Happen programme, a collaborative outreach programme that increases opportunities available to young people in Essex.

Funded through the Office for Students, the Uni Connect programme aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds progressing to higher education. The team provide aspirational activity, information and guidance to schools and colleges and other groups with the potential to progress to Higher Education.

Make Happen is a collaborative project, working with all universities in Essex, alongside schools, colleges, local authorities, and other groups committed to improving the opportunities of young people.

The central office for Make Happen is based at the University of Essex, Colchester campus, with additional staff based in HE institutions in Chelmsford and Southend. This role will be based at the University of Essex, Colchester campus.

Duties of the Role
To assist with the development and delivery of outreach projects and large-scale events for school students in years 9-13, as part of Make Happen, the Essex partnership of the Uni Connect programme. You will assist with the delivery of activity amongst groups of students who are currently underrepresented within higher education, as well as building and maintaining strong links with the schools and students in the local area to understand their needs are to ensure all students can make an informed choice about their educational pathways.

Skills and qualifications required
As an Outreach Assistant for Make Happen, you will be organised, self-motivated and have the ability to deliver inspirational communications to a range of audiences. You will have previous experience working with young people and delivering educational activities.
