The School of Art and Creative Industries at the University of Bedfordshire, has an exciting opportunity available to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Hourly Paid University Lecturer in Animation to our BA course based on the Luton Campus. The School works closely with employers to ensure that we deliver an industry relevant curriculum that equips our graduates to secure highly skilled employment in the sector.

Role Description

This is an Hourly Paid, Fixed Term, University Lecturer position to teach on our BA Animation degree 12 hours per week (2 days) for 11 weeks. The post is available immediately to a suitably qualified applicant. The successful applicant will work with year 1 and year 2 undergraduate students to teach key animation skills through project-based briefs.

The post may appeal to a practitioner looking to gain experience in the Higher Education sector, or someone looking to re-enter Higher Education following a career break. We are particularly interested in applicants with a strong Motion Graphics bias, able to teach Adobe Creative Cloud and After Effects alongside techniques such as StopMotion, 3D animation and experience with Blender.

Key Responsibilities:

These include

  •  Delivering engaging lectures and hands-on practical sessions
  •  Preparing teaching materials,
  •  Assessing student work with constructive feedback,
  •  Providing academic support to students on-site.

Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate qualification (e.g., BA in Animation or related field).
  • Either a relevant Masters qualification or equivalent professional experience

Experience

  • Expertise in Animation, 3D Modelling, and Character Design
  • Strong Knowledge of industry-standard animation software
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Previous teaching experience in Higher Education is desirable

Interviews will be held on the 03 February 2025.

The post will be based at Luton (with travel to other campuses as required)
