Job description:

We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Medicine and Population Health (SMPH) for a Community Researcher who identifies as South Asian. You will provide essential support to a team undertaking a Research Project on the sugar industries and health.

Here at the University, our research spans scientific discoveries to helping to improve patient outcomes and address major health challenges.

The Project is led by Dr Rizwana Lana, and we are seeking candidates who will be able to help identify people from the South Asian communities to participate in the research.

You will work closely with the team, and will be digging deep into people’s stories of sugar consumption, using a range of exciting creative techniques to collect stories. We will conduct ‘go along’ interviews, apply film and photography, facilitate workshops, and encourage participation through art and writing.

We anticipate that we will then share these stories with different organisations such as local councils and health care providers. We will work to help develop resources and services which better reflect the health needs of ethnic minority communities.

No prior research experience is required and all training will be provided. There will be some travel required in the Yorkshire and Lancashire areas to undertake interviews.
