The role will focus on delivery of the University’s FOCUS West schools outreach programme and the MDP3 Social Responsibility Pathway community outreach module. You will design and deliver a range of activities and projects, as well as overseeing undergraduate students and maintaining relationships with a range of external organisations.
Term: Fixed (12 months)
FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week)
The University of Strathclyde is a socially progressive Higher Education institution which values and celebrates the diversity of its student and staff community and is committed to widening access to education. The Access, Equality & Inclusion Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Widening Access Outreach Officer to support their schools and community outreach programmes.
The role has two main components. First, the post holder will oversee the operational delivery of the University’s FOCUS West Campus Experience programme, coordinating, developing and delivering widening access outreach activities that support young people from under-represented or disadvantaged groups. The post holder will need to organise activities in line with direction from the Widening Access Manager (Outreach & Partnerships) to ensure that interventions are delivered to the correct number of eligible pupils in line with the programme budget.
Second, the post holder will work under the direction of the Widening Access Manager (Student & Community Engagement) to manage and deliver the MDP3 Social Responsibility Pathway, a module that involves 3rd year students in the Strathclyde Business School working on a range of community outreach initiatives that involve 3rd sector organisations, schools and widening access programmes. This role involves the close supervision of undergraduate students and working collaboratively with a range of external organisations.
With a minimum of a relevant HNC/HND level qualification, you will have experience working with a diverse student body within tertiary education or the school sector and knowledge of the higher education sector and widening access issues. Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including 3rd sector organisations, is beneficial. As the role may involve delivery of materials to schools, and the management of in-school events, a full driving licence is essential.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 30 January 2025.
