An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Careers Department for a Careers Consultant to develop and enhance employability provision for our diverse and high calibre Postgraduate Taught (PGT) student population.
There is a renewed focus on postgraduate employability at the university, including a specific PGT strategy. This contributes to the University’s overarching strategy, with a commitment to achieve strong employment outcomes for our PGT students.
About us
You will be joining the Careers team at a time when we are continuing to build and shape our service, positioning ourselves as future focused, and enabling our students to become career confident. We are seeking a resourceful and capable individual, who is comfortable working in a fluid and changing environment and can forge effective, productive partnerships with students, academics and professional services staff.
With impressive graduate outcomes, a strong focus on employability, and a reputation for academic excellence, we are the university of choice for many students. We are looking for someone to help us continue this journey, and prepare our postgraduate students for future success.
About you
Careers Consultants are a trusted source of careers and employability expertise, working confidently across boundaries, with all cohorts and disciplines. Your focus will be on PGT students, tapping into existing knowledge and networks, and helping define a more unique employability offer. You will liaise with colleagues across the Faculties and School of Management, building your sector knowledge, and understanding both UK and international labour markets.
You will design and deliver a bespoke programme of support for PGT students, including a full range of careers advice and guidance to students, through a range of modes and delivery, including 1:1, group and technology enabled.
You’ll be a qualified and experienced Careers Professional, with experience in HE, preferably with a postgraduate cohort. You will be motivated by the challenging and exciting nature of this role, and the need to demonstrate value and impact. A commitment to excellence is a must, and you will have a track record of excellent stakeholder management, highly refined communication skills and a drive to innovate and lead in the postgraduate space.
