An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Manager to join the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge. The post is integral for maintaining the physical infrastructure, facilities and high quality support services in order to ensure effective operation of research and teaching activities in the Department.
The post holder leads and manages the building and facilities team, the electronic technician and the workshop team.
You will be responsible for breakdown and preventive maintenance programmes. You will plan and coordinate building and refurbishment projects. In coordination with the safety team, you will ensure the Department is in compliance with H&S rules/guidance. You will act as the Department Fire Manager.
You will be educated to a degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent relevant professional qualification) with experience of building maintenance, managing building - related projects and a working knowledge of H&S and Fire Safety legislation. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required together with the ability to organise and develop the building services team to achieve maximum efficiency to support the Unit's research.
