The Business Support (Finance) team at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for a Business Support Administrator to join their team on a fixed term basis to provide support for a portfolio of research projects and grant applications.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Business Support Administrator to provide support to colleagues across the Usher Institute. The postholder will have responsibility for a portfolio of research projects and the role offers the opportunity to use and develop knowledge and experience in relation to all aspects of supporting and managing a research grant. The postholder will take a proactive lead in this relatively autonomous role, with complicated matters being referred to the line manager where required. You will benefit from a network of staff and departments across the Institute, College and wider university.

The post is part time and is offered on a hybrid (non-contractual) basis.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently, to plan and prioritise own workload, often months in advance and to re-prioritise to meet deadlines;
  • A confident, pro-active approach to work, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to form excellent working relationships with colleagues at all levels;
  • A high standard of numeracy and excellent attention to detail with experience of handling confidential information;
  • Good working knowledge of research grant applications and award processes;
  • Ability to juggle a variety of competing priorities and timescales through effective time-management skills.
