Applications are invited for a temporary part-time (0.5 FTE) post of an Associate Professor in General Practice within UCD School of Medicine. 

The UCD School of Medicine seeks to appoint a senior academic post in General Practice. The aim of this post is to support teaching (undergraduate/postgraduate) and the further development of research in General Practice within the UCD School of Medicine. The post holder will have a key role in providing academic leadership in the subject at School level, across the University and nationally / internationally. 

With regards to teaching, the appointee will contribute to teaching in the subject of General Practice across the School, and especially those modules coordinated by the subject. They will support early clinical exposure / clinical placements and have a key role in further strengthening the School’s Teaching Practice Network through recruiting, inducting and supporting new practices as well as the establishment of ‘teaching hubs’ affiliated with the medical school. It is also envisaged that the successful candidate will play a key part in supporting future curriculum developments in General Practice on the School’s medical degree programmes. 

With regards to research, they will be expected to undertake independent research, attract research funding, supervise students undertaking higher research degrees, undergraduate students on research electives, and support the further development of the UCD GP Research Network. 

The post holder will contribute to General Practice related teaching and learning and research activities more broadly. They will contribute to academic administration and governance and will work closely with the teaching team and the Head of Subject on activities such as curriculum development, stakeholder engagement, fostering and promoting positive linkages with colleagues in the School and other Schools across the university, as appropriate. 

It is envisaged the postholder will be a practising GP and as this is a part-time post, will continue in that capacity for the duration of the post. 

95 Associate Professor (7941) Salary Scale: €81,705 - €115,385 Per Annum Pro Rata @ 0.5FTE

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
