Student Support is a key service area in the College offering non-academic support and advice to students. This could include help with housing, benefits, health and well-being, relationship difficulties and any other problem that affects students’ learning.
In this varied and interesting role, you would assess and offer appropriate support to students, referring to external agencies when necessary, including support for vulnerable students, those with Mental Health issues, Children who are Looked After (CLA) and those identified as ‘at risk’. You would also take a lead role working with the Student Council to co-ordinate student activities and events, working with the Student Executive Committee and Tutor Reps.
You will need to have experience of working with young people aged 16+ in an informal and supportive capacity. You should be able to engage effectively with learners from a wide variety of backgrounds and be able to positively influence young people, demonstrating good listening and interpersonal skills, and be able to work on your own initiative. You should also be a good team player and have a strong understanding and commitment to Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding. You will also be willing and able to work on both Uxbridge and Hayes campuses.
