Job description:
We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Biosciences for someone with a passion for conservation to use their ecological and statistical skills to improve biodiversity outcomes arising from urban planning.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong desire to develop evidence-based conservation policy. Additionally, you should possess a proven background in ecology/conservation research and have experience with GIS and quantitative statistical analysis.
We will support you to play a meaningful role in this collaborative inter-disciplinary research project, and generate high quality publications and societal impact. This role involves working with the British Trust for Ornithology, and academics in the School of Geography and Planning. You will benefit from an active and supportive Early Career Researcher Network in one of the UK’s leading Biology Departments, and being part of a friendly and dynamic research group that regularly publishes in top-tier journals. There will be opportunities for some field work, and travel to international conferences.
Applicants must have a PhD (or have equivalent work experience) in a relevant discipline along with excellent quantitative analysis skills within the R environment or equivalent. GIS/spatial mapping experience is also essential.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
