Are you an exceptional leader in communications and events, ready to elevate the global profile of one of the world’s leading business schools? Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford is seeking an Associate Director for Communications and Events to spearhead our media relations, social media, internal communications and events teams. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will develop and execute a cohesive strategy that ensures our research, achievements and brand reach internal and external audiences, enhancing our reputation on the global stage.
 
This is a pivotal leadership role, blending strategic vision with operational excellence to align the School’s communications and events activities with its broader objectives.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver an integrated communications and events strategy to support the School’s goals and raise its global profile.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, including Media Managers, an Events Manager, a Social Media Manager and an Internal Communications Manager.
  • Oversee media strategy, securing impactful domestic and international coverage, and managing proactive and reactive media activities.
  • Ensure seamless alignment of events with the School’s communications objectives, leveraging events as platforms for visibility and impact.
  • Evaluate performance across media, social media, events and internal communications, using data insights to inform future strategies.
You will possess proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and drive high performance in communications teams. You will have expertise in developing and executing effective communications strategies, including delivering high-profile campaigns, managing crisis communications and overseeing successful events. You should also demonstrate experience in social media management, with a strong grasp of channels and metrics, and a talent for identifying and leveraging communications opportunities for positive coverage.
