Working across all University sites this role will assist in maintenance of University Gardens including water features and Sports Grounds. Main duties will include all aspects of staff supervision including allocating tasks, drawing up work schedules, and the day to day supervision of the use and maintenance of vehicles and equipment completing associated documentation to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and University policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the preparation and staffing of special projects and events such as Graduation ceremonies, Sporting Tournaments and Conferences and will be expected to deal with out of hours emergencies such as storm damage or gritting due to snow and ice.

Candidates should be qualified to NVQ3 and/or City & Guilds Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture or Sports Grounds Practices or equivalent level qualifications from appropriate professional bodies, have extensive experience working in Amenity Horticulture/Grounds maintenance under taking a wide range of duties and have supervisory experience gained within a similar role.

Due to the frequency with which the post holder will drive vehicles involved in grounds maintenance operations and transport materials between University sites candidates must hold a valid driving license.

The post will be offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), permanent contract. Job share arrangements may be considered. Further details about this position can be found on the attached job Role profile.
