The RNCM is recruiting a part-time (80 hours per annum) staff pianist who has a broad working knowledge of the instrumental and vocal repertoire, and wide experience as an accompanist/ collaborative pianist. Experience working in an academic setting as an accompanist is desirable, and excellent sight-reading skills and the ability to absorb and communicate musical ideas quickly and effectively in rehearsal and performance are essential. We are looking for an applicant with knowledge of a cross-section of repertoire used by strings, wind, brass and vocal students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and at least one specialism, preferably knowledge of the brass and piano duo repertoire. Vocal coaching skills eg languages are also desirable. It is expected that applicants will have completed postgraduate or equivalent level study of accompaniment as a discipline and have demonstrable experience as a collaborative pianist in the profession.
