Fixed-Term Science Lecturer

EUSA proposes to appoint a lecturer with an ability to teach an upper level undergraduate course in any one of the following areas:

 The Biochemistry of Water and Clean Water Sustainability This interdisciplinary course begins with a laboratory-based investigation into the chemical structure of water before moving on to an exploration of the politics of sustainability through a social justice, economic and environmental lens.

Environmental Sustainability This Natural Science course focuses on developing a scientific understanding of the challenges and complexities involved in environmental sustainability. The impacts and interconnections of global environmental change are investigated across a range of topics including energy, air, water, soil, land use, health and justice.

Global Warming Drawing upon Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Politics, this interdisciplinary course assesses the causes and consequences of climate change, as well as the regulatory challenges for addressing these issues within national and international frameworks. Laboratory assignments and field work supplement lecture-based learning.   

The course with the best lecturer fit will be a part of a study abroad programme delivered in London on behalf of a leading American university (a Top 100 college according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 rankings). The start date for the teaching will be at the end of August 2025 and conclude at the end of October 2025. There will be forty contact hours in total. While the course options above have all been approved by the relevant authorities on the home campus, the appointed lecturer will be required to flavour the syllabus to take into account the cross-cultural nature of the education abroad experience. These syllabus adjustments will be needed by early February. Zoom interviews will take place in the week beginning 20 January 2025. 

The successful applicant will have a relevant doctorate or be an established writer on the topic in question and have appropriate teaching experience at undergraduate level.
