The School of Education delivers a broad range of programmes, including ITT courses leading to qualified teacher status. The School also offers a range of non-QTS programmes including Masters degrees, Primary Education, Youth and Community Work, Outdoor and Adventure Education, Special Educational Needs and Disability and Foundation Degrees in Early Years and Teaching and Learning.
We are seeking to appoint an individual to either lead and/or contribute to our Secondary PGCE provision.
We would welcome applications from candidates with the following experience:
What you’d be doing:
Dependent upon the appointment, this post will involve leadership of the secondary PGCE provision managing the day-to-day running of the programme and supporting other Secondary ITT tutors and trainees. The post includes classroom-based and practical teaching. In addition, you will be marking and moderating trainee course work, visiting trainees on placement and working with mentors, being involved in the recruitment of secondary trainees as well as providing pastoral and academic support to our trainees. You will also support and contribute to some teaching across our undergraduate QTS degree in Science and Maths. You will also contribute to the research and knowledge exchange activities within the university.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact:
Gary Kinchin (Dean School of Education), at gkinchin@marjon.ac.uk or
Giles Freathy (Associate Dean: Partnerships) at gfreathy@marjon.ac.uk.
Where you’ll work:
Plymouth Marjon University is a small University with our students at the heart of everything we do. You’ll be based in the School of Education on our green campus in the north of Plymouth.
Supporting our people:
We recognise that our recruitment might bring in staff who are new to higher education and bring knowledge and expertise from other fields and practice. We want to ensure that all our academic staff are appropriately qualified to teach in HE and have the confidence to do so; to support this, we offer a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) to all new teaching staff without an existing teaching qualification.
