We are looking to appoint a Research Assistant to contribute to a project funded by the Malaria Consortium. This project focuses on evaluating the impact of malaria chemoprevention interventions on the genetic diversity of malaria parasites. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting molecular and genomic analyses of DNA extracted from dried blood spot samples collected during surveys in Nigeria, utilizing advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.
The successful applicant will have a relevant first degree in the field of biomedical sciences or HNC in biomedical sciences as well as relevant experience in NGS. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed term until 31 August 2025 with a possibility of extending. The post is funded by the Malaria Consortium.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway Grade 5 salary scale in the range £39,182 - £44,847 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
