Large-scale quantum structures are necessary for the implementation of quantum technology, yet their complexity exceeds the computational limits of classical simulations. This PhD project will focus on advancing a qualitative theory for these large quantum systems, aiming to establish essential Figures of Merit (FoM), universal dimensionless parameters, which control transitions between qualitatively different regimes of operations of these structures. Such criteria will provide a framework for characterising, optimising, and ensuring the reliable operation of large quantum structures, opening pathways to new levels of quantum capability .
