UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is looking for an established leader to join us as Deputy Director of Analysis and Evidence.

The Role

We are seeking a Deputy Director of Analysis and Evidence to be a key figure in UKRI's strategic leadership. In this role, you will have a central role in ensuring that all decisions are grounded in robust evidence and analysis. Working closely with our collaborative colleagues from UKRI's nine councils and teams, you will lead a high-performing analytical profession to craft our strategy and effectively communicate our impact to government, customers, partners, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and encourage a team of analysts and head the analysis profession, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and flexibility
  • Build and manage a comprehensive evidence base to support UKRI’s strategy, funding, and policy decisions
  • Collaborate with the CEO, CFO, CIO, and Executive Chairs to drive UKRI’s vision and ensure decisions are informed by high-quality data and analysis
  • Provide compelling evidence to support UKRI’s Spending Review bids, fiscal events, and planning investment for optimal impact
  • Engage closely with government departments, building strong connections and delivering in-depth analysis to senior decision-makers

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership in analytical roles, with the ability to drive high-impact analysis in complex organisational environments.
  • Experience influencing strategy through evidence-based decision-making in policy-relevant contexts
  • Strong ability to develop relationships with partners, shape UKRI’s strategy for analysis and evidence, and effectively lead teams to success
  • Strong understanding of the research and innovation sector and experience working within central government
