The Curriculum Leader for English –Scholastic Aptitude Testing (SAT) Program will contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement and curriculum innovation which embeds strong collaborative working in the Program. The SAT English Program is preparing students for the USA College Board Reading and Writing tests. 

The Curriculum Leader for English - SAT Program will lead on key elements of the organisation of the SAT Program team in order to support the delivery of excellent student outcomes. They will work with the Head of Program English to assure quality of provision and enhance the curriculum through the development of innovative practice.  

Reporting to the Head of Program English you will work closely with senior colleagues within and outside of Study Group and be accountable for the delivery of outstanding SAT Programme outcomes. In addition to supporting the effective line management of teaching staff.    

The successful candidate will have a teaching commitment of up to 15 hours per week.  Additional teaching hours may be assigned if there are periods where lower number of Program courses being delivered or if cover teaching is required 

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Support with maintaining academic oversight of the delivery, including timetabling, assessment, and monitoring of SAT English Program. 
  • Provide support to SAT English Program tutors, including providing feedback on their performance and help with arranging staff cover. 
  • Support the Head of Program English with the appointment and induction of SAT English Program staff    
  • Participate in regular meetings with SAT English Program staff and represent the Digital English or Program team at appropriate events and meetings internally and externally.  
  • Contribute to program centre meetings as determined by the Head of Program English, and Program Director to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.  
  • Participate in regular meetings with SAT English Program staff as required. 
  • Creating an environment where all staff are treated with respect and dignity and that they treat students in the same manner. 
  • Liaise with the Digital Student Support team to provide support and guidance for students. 
  • Support the Head of Program English to track and monitor the SAT English Program student engagement and student outcomes throughout the year, using knowledge of appropriate and effective intervention strategies to implement support where necessary. 
  • Assure consistency of delivery and standards across the SAT English Program provision, liaise with other departments to share good practice and benefit from the dissemination of developments elsewhere in the network at subject level. 
  • Contribute to annual review, academic development and appropriate diversification of the SAT English Program provision.  

ABOUT YOU

  • Teaching experience in English Literature within Secondary or further education or pathway sector or teaching experience for USA College Board SAT Reading and Writing tests. 
  • Some experience of providing leadership with evidence of success.  
  • Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement.  
  • Experience of working online including delivering online lessons with different digital learning tools and platforms.
