Senior Finance Officer

Cardiff University – College of Physical Sciences and Engineering - School of Computer Science & Informatics - Cyber Innovation Hub

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Officer to join the Cyber Innovation Hub team, working closely with the School of Computer Science & Informatics and the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering.

The Cyber Innovation Hub is a strategic investment by Welsh Government and the Cardiff Capital Region that aims to transform South Wales into a leading cyber security cluster by the end of the decade. The Hub is currently a consortium led by Cardiff University supported by the Alacrity Foundation, TramShed Tech and University of South Wales.

Reporting to the Finance Manager within the School of Computer Science & Informatics, you will be a proactive and collegial member of the Hub’s Professional Service staff, and work closely with finance colleagues across the School of Computer Science & Informatics and College of Physical Sciences and Engineering.

The successful candidate will have the ability and enthusiasm to provide an effective, efficient and quality driven support service to the Hub and the consortium partners, providing senior oversight on financial processes and ensuring compliance with University Financial Regulations.

The Senior Finance Officer will assist with the management and delivery of financial accounting and procurement activities within the Hub, ensuring that the Hub complies continuously with University financial regulations and procedures, with relevant sponsor or regulatory body requirements and with best practice in financial stewardship; as well as providing financial management information and advice to assist the Finance Manager and College Accountant and other senior staff across the Hub in operational planning and management activities.

The Hub is located within the University’s Sbarc|Spark building and the postholder will spend the majority of their time based between the Hub’s offices and the School of Computer Science & Informatics’ Finance Office in Abacws. This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, meaning that as well as spending time working on campus you can also choose to spend some time working from another location, e.g. your home. The University is committed to offering this flexibility, wherever the role and business need allows, supporting work-life balance.

This position is offered on a 0.8FTE basis (28 hours a week) and is fixed term until 30 August 2027.

Salary: starting at £32,332 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked, with 2 annual increments up to £34,980 per annum, pro-rata (Grade 5).
