Study Abroad, a division of Boston University Global Programs, is responsible for developing and providing opportunities for undergraduate study around the world. BU Study Abroad offers students from Boston University and over 100 other colleges and universities 200+ programs, 30+ cities, and 20+ countries. Boston University was one of the first universities in the United States to send students abroad, and the first university to offer study abroad internship opportunities on several continents. The range of subjects covered includes Advertising and PR, Computer Science, Economics & Finance, Film, Radio, Journalism, Mathematics and Statistics and Psychology and Health Sciences.

Role Outline

Boston University Study Abroad London is seeking a lecturer to teach a popular elective course in Strategic Brand Management in the UK Context as part of our Spring 2025 London Internship Programme for American study abroad students. Starting in mid-February, teaching is for 9 weeks on Mondays (AM or PM slots) or Fridays (AM or PM slots) amounting to 40 classroom contact hours in total, plus final exam coverage for the course, which concludes on 23rd April. 

Elective B classes are taught on Mondays or Fridays. Monday classes are scheduled for 24th February; 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st March; 7th, 8th, 14th and 22nd April. Alternatively, Friday classes are scheduled for 28th February; 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th March; 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th and 23rd April. The final exam is scheduled for 24th April. Additionally, 15th April is reserved as a contingency teaching day, to be utilised if any lectures cannot be delivered as planned during the academic calendar. 

This is a temporary appointment with the potential to be renewed.

Strategic Brand Management in the UK Context:

This course provides students with a theoretical and working knowledge of the role that brands and brand management plays in helping today’s organisations achieve their marketing and corporate goals, with a particular emphasis on business and marketing environments in the United Kingdom. The course investigates the origin and rationale for brands, explains how brands create value for consumers, organisations and society at large and introduces the concept of brand equity. Students will examine in detail and acquire working knowledge of the strategic brand management process involving the design and execution of marketing programmes to build, measure and manage brand equity.  

Required Skills

The successful candidate will be a highly competent lecturer, possessing both significant professional experience and teaching expertise in Brand Management. They will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. Applicants should demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication skills and experience in teaching undergraduate students, preferably including American & international students.
